While it may appear overwhelming, the process is actually simple and direct.Jvisser Racing Stables will guide you every step of the way.

Whether you opt for registering as an Individual Owner (R4 285), Syndicate (R10 420), Partnership (R5 605), or even as a Company (R10 420), we are here to assist.

Both the trainer and owner need to sign an NHA Authority to Act form (R895), giving the trainer the authority to oversee your horse.Once the registration and all payments are submitted to the National Horseracing Authority, approval typically takes no longer than two days.

  • Sole ownership - For people who wish to own a horse outright.
  • Company – For owners wishing to own a horse under the name of their company or business.
  • Partnership - Enjoy all the excitement of sole ownership while also sharing the costs. This is a great way to get involved, with a group of like-minded friends, each having their names in the race card and collectively selecting racing silks.
  • Syndicate – For a large group of people coming together to own a horse, but who do not have to be sole owners in their own right.
To purchase a horse, you can participate in one of the Yearling Sales events held by either Bloodstock SA or Cape Racing Sales during the year. For sale dates and catalogues, visit their websites at www.bsa.co.za and www.caperacingsales.co.za.

If you are specifically looking to buy a share, reach out to any member of the Jvisser Racing Team for assistance in acquiring available shares in the stable.

LEASE SHARES - Eliminating purchase fees, this option requires monthly payments. These shares exclusively pertain to the horse's racing career, excluding any involvement in stud services or post-racing activities.
Pros: No purchase fees and no percentage deduction from stakes.
Cons: 30-day advance payment required.

ONCE-OFF SHARES - Pay a single fee and enjoy perpetual benefits during the validity period of your share.
Pros: Eliminates ongoing expenses.
Cons: Initial investment can be substantial, particularly for larger shares

TRADITIONAL SHARES entail purchase fees and monthly stable fees. On a positive note, investors receive full ownership stakes and share in the financial gains from racing, as well as potential profits upon the horse's transition to a stud farm or post-racing career. This structure can be advantageous; however, it may also incur significant expenses.
